The Crittall style of internal door‘s simple, clean, industrial design lends itself to all sorts of property styles. This property is a converted barn, full of original features including this exposed beam over the door opening.Â
The homeowners wanted to keep the flow of light through the kitchen to the back room you see beyond the threshold. With a solid, non-glazed door this room would get very little natural light at all.
The challenge was to find a solution that would provide a threshold between the kitchen and living space, to eliminate draughts and keep the property well-insulated without losing that precious natural light or spoiling the property’s character.
Our installers arrive on site for 8am to commence the work. Step one is always to cover and protect the working area so nothing is damaged during the installation process.Â
We install the new internal door, side panels and top lights, being careful to work around the existing timber beam. Double glazed internal doors act as an insulating acoustic barrier and allow more natural light to flow into the room than a solid door and stud work surround.
A check over of the door is complete and the homeowner is shown how to operate the door. Tidy up and remove any trade waste from the property. We then caulk the door rather than using a sealant for a softer finish.
