Steel look internal doors make a real statement in both traditional and modern properties. This 1950s bungalow had a standard timber door with glazed side panels, a fanlight and a stud wall to one side. The doors opened into a lovely light living space, but the hall space was dark and uninviting once this door was closed.
We wanted to give the homeowners a functional and stylish internal door that would create an instantly welcoming space with plenty of light flowing through the home. The steel-look aluminium internal doors, with their classic art deco features, fitted the bill perfectly!
Our installers arrived on site for 8am to commence works. We always start by covering and protecting the working area and then move on to removing the existing doors, making sure to be careful not to damage any internal walls.
We removed a stud wall, to allow for side panels on both sides of the door. The new steel look internal door is fitted in place, along with the glazed side panels and fan light above.
A check over of the door is complete and the customer is shown how to operate the door. Tidy up and remove the existing door from the site. We then caulk the door rather than using a sealant to get a softer finish.
This steel look internal heritage-style door was installed in just one day, and has completely transformed the space. The homeowners chose black art deco handles to complete the look.
The doors are stylish but practical – they meet all fire door regulations and act as an acoustic barrier between the rooms.
We use 8mm toughened glass which is extremely durable yet allows the light to flow from room to room. The aluminium frames are also available in any RAL colour.
We think the end results are fantastic, and create a real statement entrance to the living space in this home. Aluminium doors, particularly in this steel-look art deco style, are visually appealing and ‘on trend’ but also hold their value over time, due to their durable materials and classic design.
